SAP moves its technology platform to S/4HANA, and support for the previous SAP ERP Technologies is discontinued in 2027.
The shift is due to an imperative need to develop against new technologies and business principles to support and integrate Industry 4.0 thinking.
Where previous SAP ERP versions have focused on registration and data collection, the new S/4 HANA platform allows you to apply the information gathered using new technologies such as AI, Machine Learning and a whole new user interface with the ability to interactive reporting.
Digitization and the utilization of the new technologies will create new business models that are imperative in a future competitive situation.
In addition to moving to a new technical platform, a migration to S/4HANA will require both technical and functional changes. The conversion is, therefore, a unique opportunity to optimize existing business processes and switch to a new and flexible user interface (Fiori) with options that extend beyond the normal ERP mindset.
S/4HANA contains significant simplifications in the existing business processes, and the HANA database offers new opportunities through new technology and increased speed. The Fiori user interface introduces a new way of accessing applications for the user based on process-oriented apps and dashboards with selected KPIs that are directly visible in the User Interface.
